About LaShonda
If you feel stuck, lost and overwhelmed by the way life has gone, then welcome to the best chapter of your life.
This one is going to be clear, grounded, authentic and emotionally healthy!
Hi friend, I’m LaShonda.
I was the child who loved getting the “gold stars” in class. I always wanted to make others around me happy and check all the boxes society said you had to check to be considered “successful”...and I tried to do it all without murmuring or complaining.
I grew up with the mindset that I had to be a “strong woman” who did all the things. Always be willing to serve and be happy with whatever you get in return. So, that’s what I did. I served my country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, then followed that with a wonderful civil service career in public affairs and communications, where I was frequently in leadership positions managing diverse teams and projects.
I followed the script for what life is “supposed” to look like after you finish college. I got married, completed my master’s degree, had children and quickly found myself juggling all the demands of a very busy life and family. From class parties to carpool to sports at night and on the weekends, I was booked and busy, but secretly disconnected and depressed.
I felt overwhelmed and unsupported, and I just wanted to quit everything. I had stress knots in my body, couldn’t sleep through the night and suffered from serious anxiety at work. I always felt like I was in fight, flight or fawn mode. It was the story I wrote, but it wasn’t the story I wanted.
I felt like I was living my life for everyone else. I did what my family, religion and cultural traditions said I was supposed to do in order to be deemed as a woman worthy of honor and respect. Self-Sacrifice was the title of the story I was writing, and the ending did not look good.
Then I read a book called, “She’s Still There,” and a part of me woke up. I knew there was more to my life’s story and purpose than what I was experiencing. So, I committed to getting down to the business of finding my way back to myself, and my search led me to The Adult Chair® model.
From the first podcast I listened to, my perspective on my life immediately began to shift. I began applying this model of ‘simple psychology, meets grounded spirituality’ in every area and relationship in my life. Then, my relationships, career and mental and emotional health all began to shift in ways I never could imagine. I used the tools in the model to uncover unconscious beliefs, and I was able to get clear on who I truly am based on conscious beliefs rooted in fact and truth.
Transformation is awaiting you too. You have the power to change beliefs and ideologies that no longer serve your highest good. Let’s work together to shift the narratives of who you thought you were so you can embrace the most authentic version of yourself. It worked for me, and I know it can work for you.
“LaShonda’s knowledge and insight has been key in helping me make key connections between my childhood and what I’m experiencing now as an adult. Her information has been so valuable to me and has helped me heal and grow.”
