Hi friend, I’m LaShonda.
I was a child who learned early to put my emotions aside, taking on the subconscious belief that it was my responsibility to manage everyone else’s feelings and expectations. I became the “good girl” who earned gold stars, kept the peace, and made others happy—even if it meant abandoning my own needs. I followed the script society handed me: serve others, stay quiet, and do it all without complaint.
I carried that belief into adulthood, excelling in my career, family life, and community roles. I served as a U.S. Air Force officer, managed a variety of teams, and checked every box labeled “success.” But behind the achievements was a woman who felt overwhelmed, disconnected, and emotionally exhausted. My life looked perfect on the outside, but inside, I was running on empty.
I was constantly juggling roles: a wife, mother, leader, and caregiver. I ignored the signals my body was sending—stress knots, sleepless nights, anxiety. My life revolved around doing for others, but I had abandoned me. Self-sacrifice had become my identity, and I realized the story I was living wasn’t the one I wanted.
Then, I read She’s Still There and something clicked. A part of me woke up, and I knew I needed to reclaim my emotional wellness and purpose. My journey led me to The Adult Chair® model, a transformative tool that helped me untangle the overwhelm and reconnect with my true self.
Now, I help women like me — the overwhelmed midlife woman managing it all but silently asking:
“Who am I beyond these roles?”
“How do I stop feeling so overwhelmed?”
“What comes next for me?”
Through emotional wellness coaching, I guide women to slow down, listen to their emotions, and release the patterns that no longer serve them. My work is about creating a sacred space where you can:
